SAMURAI
Thermally modified and charred timber cladding
SAMURAI GETS ITS NAME FROM ITS STRENGTH OF CHAR AND NOBLE PATTERN.

We have taken thermally modified timber and shou sugi ban scorched its surface to a charred finish.
Â
The end result is a stable and durable substrate, with a black finish weatherboard brandishing a hard full char finish. This is an exciting product development for The Blackwood project that we have been working on for some time.Â
Â
Not only is this a renewable timber resource, it's chemical free and durable. We have taken a thermally modified timber that is proven in New Zealand, and improved its characteristics by sizzling it at 1060 degrees C for 2 minutes.Â

The resulting Samurai finish is an unparalleled full char brandishing its beautiful alligator pattern. This pattern is flat and well-defined, and like its namesake is stronger than other full char options. It travels very well and is fine with being handled.
This comes with a full producer statement from the manufacturer as fit for the purpose of timber cladding in New Zealand. A limited but ongoing supply.
